In December of 2000, Jackson Public schools started a people-oriented Energy Management Program in cooperation with Energy Education, Inc. Jackson's energy program has received local, state and national recognition for its efforts in energy conservation. A quote from one article stated, "Jackson Public Schools is coming up with more effective ways to save money."
Over $4.2 million has been avoided in utility costs. This financial outcome has been achieved through the cooperation of Jackson Public Schools dedicated personnel. The district has realized additional gains of over $600,000 from a grant and negotiated contracts. Jackson Public Schools wishes to carry on the good stewardship of its financial resources.
