Area youngsters recently participated in the "Ray Weathers D-1 Developmental Camp, running from June 25 - 27 at Jackson High School. Mr. Weathers, a JHS graduate and past captain of the Michigan State University basketball team was joined by former JHS Vikings as well as current and former professional athletes as they taught fundamental basketball skills to children ages 8-17 years old. Mr. Weathers also focused on the importance of healthy eating habits, physical fitness, teamwork, self-discipline and self-esteem. Michigan State University basketball coach Tom Izzo addressed young campers on the opening day of camp. An All-Star game was played at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27th.
