JHS Science Department

The Jackson High School science department is committed to excellence. Nineteen different courses are offered, from basic level to advanced placement courses in biology, physics, and chemistry. Advanced placement courses allow students to earn college credit while still at the high school.

Hands-on learning is emphasized in all science classes. Students have the opportunity to use advanced tools such as a wind tunnel, a planetarium, and computers equipped with lab interfaces and probes. Several classes are taught before school to help alleviate scheduling problems. Tutoring is offered before and after school for students who need extra help.

Imagine This!, the JHS Science Team, offers students the chance to explore science on their own time. The team has competed in Destination Imagination, Science Olympiad, NASA DIME Program, Ferris State Spaghetti Bridge Building, and the Jackson County Academic Games.

If you are in Mrs. Burnette's biology classes, please look at our page about Internet mammal resources.
